Dr. Harikumar R. Nair is a gastrointestinal physician with over two decades of experience and advanced global training in hepatology and liver transplant medicine. He is the first gastrointestinal physician in Kerala to undergo formal training in Transplant Hepatology, establishing strong expertise in advanced liver disease and transplant-related medical care.
He completed Transplant Hepatology training at the University Health Network, Toronto, Canada, gaining experience in pre-liver transplant evaluation and post-transplant follow-up. To enhance his expertise in immediate post-operative management, he also trained at the PENN Transplant Institute, Philadelphia, USA, with focused exposure to post-transplant ICU care, individualized immunosuppression, and postoperative hepatic monitoring.
His clinical expertise further includes specialized training in portal hypertension and hepatic hemodynamics at INSELSPITAL, University Hospital of Bern, Switzerland. Dr. Harikumar R. Nair has performed 15,000+ gastrointestinal endoscopic procedures, with a special interest in ERCP for post-liver transplant biliary complications, and has served in academic and consultant roles at institutions such as JIPMER, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, and the NHS, United Kingdom.
